The FA Cup returns for the Feds this Sunday, 25 October, at 2pm, as they begin their 2026/27 campaign with an away trip to Leeds Modernians in the first round proper.
Last season, the Feds progressed through the first two rounds with convincing victories over Chester-le-Street Town (4–0) and Boldmere St Michaels (5–0), before their run came to an end in the third round with a 4–0 defeat away to WSL2 side Newcastle United. This time around, the Feds will be looking to make a strong start against Tier 5 opposition.
THE OPPOSITION – LEEDS MODERNIANS
Leeds Modernians finished last season at the top of the Southern Division of the North East Regional Women’s Football League, recording 15 wins from 18 league matches. They scored 80 goals and conceded just 22, underlining the strength of their campaign.
Based in Cookridge, Leeds, the club’s women’s set-up was launched in 2023 and has continued to grow, with first and second teams. Having secured promotion to Tier 5 last season, The Mods entered this season’s FA Cup in the second qualifying round, beating Handsworth 2–1 before a 3–0 home win over Alnwick Town in the third qualifying round secured their place in the first round proper. Sunday’s tie presents a big step up in opposition as they welcome the Feds, who will be looking to progress to the second round proper.
