It’s finally here! The first game of our 26/27 season! We welcome Derby County to Walton Hall Park, this Sunday 16th August at 2pm and we’d absolutely love for you to join us.
The team has had a successful pre-season campaign completing a raft of friendlies against stiff opposition and welcoming a stellar class of exciting new signings into the Feds fold that we can’t wait for you to meet.
After a successful dual registration last season, we’re delighted to welcome our number ten Jess Brady back on a permanent basis. Goalkeeper Naoisha McAloon joins us on loan this season from Burnley, she brings with her bags of experience having repped both Burnley and Durham.
We’ve got a Welsh international in the squad, as experienced forward Georgia Walters joins us. Georgia brings vast Championship experience having played for Blackburn Rovers, Sheffield United and was also part of the Liverpool squad that won it in 2022.
Holly McEvoy joins our midfield after making 29 appearances for Aberdeen last season. Our new eleven, Erin Caldecott is a talented defender who has progressed through the Everton pathway, was most recently at Cheadle and has now arrived at Feds ready for her next challenge. Emily Louden also joins us after a successful loan period at Cheadle and we have also welcomed a young American to the team, Maddie Bouggess joins us from South Shields. She finished last season as their top goal scorer, hitting the back of the net 14 times.
As we look forward to the future, we also want to send a massive thank you and the very best of luck to our departing players. They leave as true Feds legends who made a profound impact both on and off the pitch.
Now, a new chapter begins. Get behind the team this Sunday and let’s help them hit the ground running for our fifth FA Women’s National League North campaign!

WHAT’S HAPPENING?
Join us on Sunday at Walton Hall Park for our first game of the season!
You’ll hopefully have noticed we’ve got a new logo, which means new merch will be available very soon, in the meantime, we’ll be dishing out last season’s remaining items for free to those that are first through the gate. Get down early to grab yourself a hat or scarf.
Pod & Bean will be with us throughout the afternoon to ensure all of your caffeinated needs are met, alongside their tremendous array of cakes.
Big kids and little kids alike can grab some sweets from our tuckshop.
Oxton Ladies U9s are our matchday mascots.
Our players will be doing a meet and greet after the match has finished, so you can get some photies and we’ll be dishing out some signing cards for autographs. Come and meet the new signings!
If you are joining us for the first time, you are very welcome! There’s plenty of seating which gives you a great view of the action from all over the stand. We’ll have our Feds Favourites playlist to get you pumped up and our announcers will keep you updated with team news and a countdown to kick-off. We are a friendly bunch, so if there’s anything you need there are volunteers on-hand to assist you.

THE OPPOSITION – DERBY COUNTY
We kick off the campaign against a very familiar foe. Our final fixture of last season saw us share the points with Derby County in a gritty 1-1 draw, a result that secured our spot just one place above them in the final standings. Historically, this matchup is always a fiercely contested, physical battle, and Sunday will be no exception.
Derby County Women was formed in 1990. Since then, the club has grown organically from just one senior team to become the largest girls’ and women’s club in the Derbyshire area, with teams at every age level from U8s upwards. Under the long-serving guidance of Head Coach Sam Griffiths, the Ewes rely heavily on this vibrant youth pathway, meaning the Feds must prepare for a high-energy side that presses aggressively the moment they lose possession.
Derby have also bolstered their backline this summer with the return of defender Samantha Sharrocks. Having spent the last four years playing top-tier college football in the USA, she brings invaluable defensive stability and experience to their ranks.
The club has frequently secured top-four finishes in the FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division since its launch. Their best campaign came in the 2021/22 season under Griffiths, when they narrowly missed out on promotion to the Championship, finishing as runners-up to Southampton.
On the pitch, captain Emily Joyce is the clear player to watch. Widely regarded as the heartbeat of their midfield, she is the primary driving force behind the team’s high-tempo style. Stopping her from pulling the strings in the centre of the pitch will be a massive priority for the Feds.
With thin margins and high energy guaranteed, this has all the ingredients of an opening-day thriller.

Train – Nearest Merseyrail Station is Walton, 10-15 minute walk to Walton Hall Park, and then another 10 minutes through the park to get to the ground.
Accessibility – Wheelchair accessible, with a low-incline ramp taking you from the entrance to pitch side. Accessible toilet facilities are available.
Seating – 500 unreserved seats are available, unreserved standing is also available (capacity of the ground is approx. 2,200)
General atmosphere – very friendly, volunteers are on-hand for assistance and information, music is played through speakers in the stand pre-match, match-day announcements will keep you in the know with squad news.
We really like dogs. Dogs are very welcome and do not require a ticket 🙂
