We’d like to welcome you to our fifth league fixture of the season this Sunday, 20th September, at 2pm. We’re back at Walton Hall Park and currently sit fourth in the table after two wins and two losses from our opening four games. Following an incredibly close call on our last outing, we hope you can join us as we take on Middlesbrough, who sit ninth in the table with one win and three losses so far.
There was a lot to like about our performance against West Brom last Sunday, but the final result was a brutal one to take.
Feds were slow out of the blocks and we found ourselves behind in the 13th minute, although Jess Brady had already produced a perfectly timed challenge on the edge of the box to stop an early threat before going close herself after being picked out by a great ball from Hannah Fryer. Fryer was also called upon at the other end before half-time, reading the danger well to make an important clearance and keep the deficit to one at the break.
The second half was a different story. Feds came out with real purpose and kept pushing for an equaliser, with the pressure finally paying off on 61 minutes. Ellie Jones, making her first league appearance for us, played a brilliant through ball for Brady, who made a superb run, beat her defender and kept her composure to power the finish home.
West Brom restored their lead in the 73rd minute, but we weren’t finished. Jones was involved again eight minutes later, finding Henna Butcher, whose effort was well saved, before Brady struck again in the 82nd minute. Another determined run saw her drive forward, beat her defender and calmly slot home to make it 2-2.
It looked like the Feds had done enough to earn a point, but West Brom had the final say, scoring with the last kick of the game to make it 3-2.
A devastating way to finish a match in which we’d shown plenty of character to fight back twice. Brady was named Player of the Match after her brace, taking her to five league goals for the season.
We’ll be ready for another competitive afternoon at Walton Hall Park as we look to build on the positives from our opening four games.

We are a friendly bunch, so if there’s anything you need there are volunteers on-hand to assist you.

THE OPPOSITION – Middlesbrough Women
Boro Women returned to the Middlesbrough FC structure in 2023, bringing the team back under the club’s ownership and increasing the focus on developing the women’s side. They won the FA WNL Division One North title in 2024/25 to earn promotion to the Northern Premier Division, finishing fifth in their first season back at Tier 3 last year.
Joe Lillie remains in charge this season after taking over during the 2025/26 campaign. A Teessider and lifelong Boro fan, Lillie had previously spent two seasons as assistant coach with the women’s side before stepping into the head coach role.
There are a couple of familiar names for Feds supporters to keep an eye on. Armani Maxwell has been with Boro through their rise up the pyramid and was one of their leading league scorers last season with eight goals, while Becky Ferguson finished the campaign as the club’s overall top scorer with 12 goals after joining from Newcastle United. Both have featured regularly for Middlesbrough this season.

Train – The nearest Merseyrail station is Walton, around a 10–15 minute walk from Walton Hall Park, followed by another 10 minutes through the park to the ground.
Accessibility – Wheelchair accessible, with a low-incline ramp taking you from the entrance to pitch side. Accessible toilet facilities are available.
Seating – 500 unreserved seats are available, unreserved standing is also available (capacity of the ground is approx. 2,200)
General atmosphere – very friendly, volunteers are on-hand for assistance and information, music is played through speakers in the stand pre-match, matchday announcements will keep you in the know with squad news.
