FIXTURE PREVIEW: NORWICH CITY V FEDS (AWAY) 08.11.26

Feds are away this Sunday, 8 November, at 2pm, as they take on Norwich City in the club’s primary stadium, Carrow Road.

Last out, the Feds came from behind to take a point against Huddersfield Town at Walton Hall Park, earning a 1-1 draw under the lights. The visitors took an early lead and had chances to extend it, but we stayed in the contest and gradually grew into the game. After McAloon had kept Huddersfield out on a couple of occasions, we found our breakthrough with 15 minutes remaining, as Walters headed home from Ellie Jones’ cross. There were some nail-biting moments, particularly when the visitors earned a couple of corners around the 90th minute. Neither side could find a winner in the closing stages, leaving us with a hard-earned point against a tough side.

Sitting fifth in the league, we travel to Norwich ready to take on a new opponent in the impressive surroundings of Carrow Road.

THE OPPOSITION – NORWICH CITY WOMEN

Norwich City Women, nicknamed the Canaries, were formed in 1998 following the merger of Norwich Ladies and Norwich Racers, although the city’s women’s football history goes back much further. Norwich Ladies famously won the Women’s FA Cup in 1986, beating Doncaster Belles 4-3 in the final at Carrow Road. The women’s team was formally brought under the Norwich City FC umbrella in 2022.

Last season, Norwich secured promotion to the Northern Premier Division after finishing second in Division One South East. They won 18 of their 22 league fixtures before beating Moneyfields in a dramatic promotion play-off final. The match finished 2-2 after extra time, with Norwich eventually winning 6-5 on penalties. Forward Grace Riglar was a standout performer, scoring 22 goals in 28 appearances and collecting the division’s Golden Boot, as well as both the supporters’ and players’ Player of the Season awards. Holly Kennard and Faith Harrison are other attacking threats to look out for, having both scored in the play-off final.

Under new head coach Perry Northeast, who joined from Brighton & Hove Albion’s girls’ academy in the summer, Norwich have had a mixed start to life in the third tier. Their recent league results include a 3-2 win over Loughborough Lightning, draws against Middlesbrough and Peterborough United, and a 2-0 defeat to West Bromwich Albion. They also progressed in the FA Cup with a 5-2 victory over Redditch Borough. After nine league matches, the Canaries sit eighth on 11 points.
