Feds kicked off their 2024/25 league campaign with a 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion on Sunday afternoon.
Whilst it was the home side who dominated possession in the game they were unable to take their chances to go ahead throughout.Instead they had to leave it late to get a share of the points, an Emma Johnson strike from range finding the corner of the Baggies net.
The visitors’ started the game well taking the game to the home side with a few half chances of their own. While it did take Feds a while to get going, when they did, they had some strong opportunities to go ahead. Chances falling to Collins, Donoghue and Anderson. With neither side converting the teams went in level at the break.
Feds began the second half well but it was Albion who took a surprising lead. Orthodoxou meeting a free-kick and glances her header over Norney to give the away side the advantage.
A series of changes from Feds brought debuts to Boydell, Willis, Lawrence and Francis. A freshness from the bench and that moment of magic from Johnson eventually resulted in the well deserved point to kick start the season.
